Week #2

During the second week we talked about colonization. The Europeans wanted to be close to the Indian Ocean Trade network so they took advantage of the sea roads. But China had no need to expand because they were such a high developed country. Since the rejection, the Europeans dug deeper and found the "Native Americas" They wanted to be in the trading post empire so they fled to the Filipines; because they found them weak. They did not have a strong military and a somewhat unorganized government. They had a government that consisted of a lot of small governments. Spain made it easy of the Filipinos. The Filipinos did everything they would in their everyday life before, but it would just be under different ruling. The Europeans were successful because they conquered the Filipines but they also accomplished being apart of the Indian Ocean Trade Network.

During the first week of class we introduced ourselves to the class. We also stated everything we remembered from world history I from last semester. We made a timeline starting from the Paleolithic era to the post modern era. As a class we discovered that the Paleolithic era consisted of cave people and the Stone Age. Then there was the Neolithic Era which was considered the "New Stone Age." They established agriculture and they began to settle down more during this era. After the Neolithic Era was the Ancient Era. During during this time people started to develop the technique of writing. Next was the Classical Era and it began the idea of seminal thinkers. Seminal thinkers are people who started studying out of their comfort zone. Then as a class we recognized the European Era. This was in 1348 when the plague happened.
