Industrial Revolution -science applied to making things we require for life -can be seen as one of the most important things that has ever happened to human societies              -How is it? How can one argue why it is so important? During class we used an example of a dressmaker before the industrial revolution versus after the industrial revolution. We found that the for the dressmaker before the industrial revolution had a lot more work to do for way less prodution than the dressmaker during the industrial revolution. Although the lady before the revolution was very happy and content with life it just was not efficient enough. But unfortunately, the lady working duirng the revolution was very unhappy. Although it was more efficient, it produced a lot more issues.  As a class we asked a few questions like what is the origin of value? and "What is the value of labor?" "Problem of Eurocentrism"  - This is the bias point of view on western civilization - Schools began to only teach about western civilization - This is a big deal and still a problem today because even educators believe that the courses are to heavily based on Europe. So they changed the name from "Western Civilization" to "World History" Atlanitc Revolutions  - French                                               - North America - Haiti - Spanish "Echoes" -Still feel it surrounds you  - Impacts - Back and forth Came out after enlightenment period when we adopted the idea of popular soveirgnty, freedom/ liberty, and equality. So a lot of movements were brought out during this time, and they often worked together to become stronger and to be heard more. 

After reading this handout it really shocked me how people who come from such different backgrounds can have so many common interests. Francoise came from a much different home than Billiart. Francoise came from a rich household. Although it seemed like she had everything she still felt like her life was missing something. She then joined a covenant and became a nun. Billiart had a little harder life. She came from a poor family, and she grew up with a disability. This does not make her better than Francoise but she probably was much stronger than her considering all the things she experiences. Billiart then became a nun and got to go to school. 

During this week we went over chapter 14. We talked a lot about slave trade and the distinction of slave in different areas. In the Atlantic slave trade you could do indentured servitude which was another option for developing labor force, but you had to fulfill seven years. After the seven years you may had the chance to be deemed free. We learned that America was different. In North America you inherited status. For instance, if your family were slaves so were you. This meant less and less people wanted to move here because they did not want to get stuck with being slaves and having all the next generations follow. The African Institution is the existing economy that intensified the growing triangle of the Atlantic Trade. This created a lot of problems like racial identities.
